About this speaker
Bart Tanski is in his seventh season as a member of the RMU coaching staff. He coaches the Safeties and has also Coordinated Special Teams the last two seasons.
Under his guidance, the team achieved outstanding success in 2024, finishing with the #1 rated special teams unit in the Northeast Conference (NEC). His special teams prowess was highlighted by several key national rankings: 8th in Punt Return Defense, 17th in Net Punt, 26th in Kickoff Return, and 36th in Kickoff Coverage.
In 2023, Coach Tanski continued to build on this success, ranking 11th nationally in Kickoff Return with two separate returners finishing in the Top 25. His units also excelled in special teams' disruption, tying for 18th in blocked punts and 22nd in blocked kicks.
In 2019, Tanski helped develop Mason Gray, who was named to the 2019 All-NEC First Team after finishing the year with 100 tackles. Gray also tied an NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) single-game record by returning a pair of interceptions for a touchdown in a 41-21 victory over Duquesne at Joe Walton Stadium. The Colonials posted an overall record of 7-5 (.583) in 2019, including a mark of 6-1 (.857) in the Northeast Conference (NEC).
“Coach Tanski came with a strong recommendation from the defensive coordinator at Syracuse University,” head coach Bernard Clark, Jr., said. “When he came on his interview, he was extremely technical and very sound in his fundamentals and I thought he would be a great addition.”
